Florida
There is a lot of Latin influence in Florida cuisine, especially in the Miami area where there are restaurants from just about every Latin country imaginable.
So empanadas, ceviche, Argentine barbecue, arroz con pollo, arepas, fried yuca (our fried manioc!) among others, are part of the list of foods that are sold in Miami and the rest of the state.
But obviously the largest concentration of immigrants and descendants of immigrants in the area is still Cuban, which is reflected in some of the dishes preferred by Floridians (ie those who were born and/or live in Florida) such as the Cuban sandwich.
Fruits:
As much of Florida is located in the tropics, the production of tropical fruits is varied and it is possible to find mangoes, papayas, coconuts and the official fruit of the state, oranges.
Seafood:
Seafood is also common in Florida cuisine. Here is basically one of the freshest seafood havens in the US. One of the "officials"? Conch fritters.
Dessert and the official drink:
Key lime pie is Florida's official dessert, and the favorite cocktail in the state's heat is the mojito, which can be considered the cousin of the caipirinha.

New York
Bagel:
Often consumed for breakfast by New Yorkers, the bagel is a ring-shaped bread that has several variations. Made with wholemeal dough, sprinkled with seeds, stuffed with cream cheese, accompanied by smoked salmon or even in its sweet version, the bagel is a great choice for any time of day.
Cheesecake:
Cheesecake is one of the most traditional desserts in the United States. In New York, the cheese pie recipe with a sweet biscuit base and optional topping of different flavors, gets a special touch of sour cream, which results in a denser dough.
Hot Dog:
Despite being basic, the New York hot dog can be easily found on every corner of the city. Street stalls often offer a combo with fries and ketchup and mustard toppings.
